Do you cook a mean Sunday roast? Know how to prepare a mouth watering Jalfrezi or have grandma’s secret recipe for Sticky Toffee Pudding?
If so this could be the competition for you and your chance to put your culinary skills against other like minded 'wannabe chefs'.
The Cook off Challenge 2010 is for anyone who would like to show off their talent in cooking and learn more about the food industry as a career option. Some people are passionate about the food that they eat, whilst some people are passionate about the food that they cook. Whatever your preference - cooking, eating, or both - there is a 'foodie' career out there that could give you ultimate job satisfaction. Have you longed to have your own restaurant? Or have a passion for food and would like to make a career out of it.
Simply come along and cook your best dish and you could take home your cake and eat it too!
1st prize: A business start up support package worth £500.
2nd prize: A nights stay in the Hotel Du Vin.
3rd prize: A meal for four including a bottle of wine at The Clippers Suite, South Tyneside College
4th prize: A beauty therapy package from South Tyneside College which includes a hair cut and colour and manicure.
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants will have to impress Michael Dickson (pictured) of Dickson’s Family Pork Butchers: Step Business of the Year 2009 and Coutts Family Business of the Year 2010 for the North & Midlands, restaurant owner Moynul Hussain, Hilary Woolard who owns ‘Nurture and Nest’ - a catering business offering home made organic food and Peter Foley (pictured) who is the head catering technician at South Tyneside college.
As a contestant you will prepare and cook your dish for one in 60 minutes providing ingredients of your choice and spending no more than the £5.
