What we have achieved?

A trusted and respected champion of enterprise, TEDCO has successfully helped to generate prosperity in the North East since its formation in 1984.

In its 25 year history TEDCO has helped to create more then 2000 businesses and secured over 3000 jobs in South Tyneside. Typically survival rates achieve levels of 75% within 12 months of trading.

Our recent achievements include:

In 2005 TEDCO delivered an award-winning submission to the Enterprising Britain competition which resulted in South Tyneside being named as the first North East Capital of Enterprise. Success continued in 2006 with the announcement of £16.2 million of funding for the Borough under the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, which TEDCO played an important role in securing. TEDCO has been central in the delivery and implementation of LEGI activity and has successfully helped boost enterprise and employability in South Tyneside.

TEDCO was awarded Customer First accreditation in March 2005 and was re-accredited in 2007.TEDCO was the first business support agency in the North East to attain the Customer First standard.

More recently, 2008 heralded a number of successes for TEDCO:

Taking a creative approach to supporting enterprise across a range of specifically targeted groups saw TEDCO's community coaching project, win the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) award for community regeneration. The project was also recognised as a model of excellence in the awards.

With 25 years experience of operating successful managed workspaces, TEDCO is one of the leading workspace & incubation management organisations in the North of England. Working alongside South Tyneside and Northumberland Councils, TEDCO's reputation for management and delivery is strong.

TEDCO currently manages 2 workspace and 1 incubator in South Tyneside and an Incubator in Berwick. TEDCO's centres have had a considerable impact on the local economy and have contributed to substantial regeneration in the areas where they are located.

In addition to facilities management, TEDCO has created environments and support services within the centres to encourage collaboration and help small businesses grow.

TEDCO's reputation was highlighted further through receipt of the national United Kingdom Business Incubation (UKBI) Award for Best New Business Incubator for the management of Berwick WorkSpace.

Also in 2008, TEDCO together with technology partner bgroup developed and launched EnterpriseUpfront www.enterpriseupfront.com an innovative new free national enterprise e-zine. EnterpriseUpfront aims to support the promotion of an enterprising culture across the UK through effective communication bringing readers the latest enterprise news, views and research.
